I am a Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and a Chartered
Institute of Arbitrators (C.I.Arb.) accredited mediator. I am also a CROCNAC
certified and Mediation UK registered mediator actively involved in
commercial and community disputes and I have acted as mediator on about
sixty occasions. I have been appointed mediator
directly by the parties and also acted as mediator in disputes directed from
the Birmingham Civil Justice Centre and the Central London Civil Justice
Centre. I embrace the EU Model Code of Conduct for Mediators.
The goal of mediation is settlement
of disputes though compromise. Mediation is most likely
to succeed where you have an ongoing relationship with
another party, which you wish to maintain.
Through my
dispute resolution experience as arbitrator and my technical
and commercial expertise I will be able to engage you
in early 'reality testing' by exploring the strengths
and weaknesses of your position.
When you appoint
me as a mediator I will not be making decisions for
you. I understand that any authority I have must be
earned by gaining the mutual confidence of the parties.
I will be able to work with you privately, having access
to confidential information.
I also expect
to be able to help you confront and deal with any emotional
issues that are psychological obstacles to compromising
the dispute.
